Physiotherapy home visits in Sydney Olympic Park

Apartment towers, long corridors and lifts, with parkland on the doorstep once someone is steady enough to use it.

Almost everything we visit here is apartments, and apartments change the work. There is rarely a hallway long enough to practise a proper walk in, so the corridor, the lift lobby and the car park become the training ground once someone is safe enough to use them.

The advantage is what sits outside. Bicentennial Park and the parkland around Olympic Park are flat, well-surfaced and forgiving, which makes them unusually good places to rebuild walking distance once the indoor work has done its job.

Without a hallway to work in, the corridor and the lift lobby become the training ground once someone is safe enough to use them. It looks unglamorous and it is far closer to what the person actually has to do every day.

We cover Sydney Olympic Park and the streets around it — Newington and Wentworth Point are all the same visit for us.

Local detail

Housing stock
Almost entirely apartments at Newington and Wentworth Point. Lift confidence and wet tiled bathrooms are the two recurring risks.
A goal worth working toward here
A lap of the parkland at Bicentennial Park. It is flat and well-surfaced, which makes it a good place to rebuild distance without the hazards of a suburban footpath.
Getting to you
Building access, visitor parking and lift fobs get arranged before the first visit. In these towers that is the difference between a session happening and a wasted trip.
