Panania, East Hills and Picnic Point sit above the Georges River, with quiet streets, established homes and an older population that has largely stayed put. The blocks slope toward the water in places, so driveways are a more common hazard here than internal stairs.

The riverside reserves below are a real asset once someone is steady enough to use them. Flat, well-surfaced and pleasant enough that people actually go, which matters more for adherence than any amount of clinical persuasion.

The streets slope toward the water, so the driveway is usually harder than anything indoors. Practising it in the shoes someone actually wears, rather than in a clinic, is what makes the plan hold up.

We cover Panania and the streets around it — East Hills and Picnic Point are all the same visit for us.
