Physiotherapy home visits in Fairfield

A busy centre with a hospital, a big older population, and more languages spoken at home than almost anywhere in the country.

Fairfield has a large older population and one of the most linguistically diverse communities in Australia, with substantial Assyrian, Arabic and Vietnamese-speaking populations. Physiotherapy that is not understood does not get done, so a fair chunk of a first visit here goes on making sure the plan makes sense to the person who has to follow it.

Fairfield Hospital is a few minutes away at Prairiewood, and a lot of referrals come from the weeks just after a discharge. Coming home is where the real work starts, and it is where a program written on a ward can meet a house it does not quite fit.

We cover Fairfield and the streets around it — Fairfield Heights, Fairfield East and Fairfield West are all the same visit for us. About ten minutes from our base in Guildford.

Local detail

Languages
Assyrian, Arabic and Vietnamese are all widely spoken here, and more than one in five residents was born in Iraq. We provide care directly in Vietnamese, Cantonese and Mandarin, and work with interpreters or family for the rest.
Nearest hospital
Fairfield Hospital is a short drive away at Prairiewood, so post-discharge reconditioning at home is a common reason people call.
A goal worth working toward here
Getting around Fairfield Forum and the Ware Street shops without needing to stop, which needs standing tolerance as much as walking distance.
